Not everyone has time to vacuum as often as they should. If you’re a professional with an insanely busy schedule it can be hard to keep up with the continuous onslaught of pet hair. If you’re finding this to be a massive chore then a robot vacuum could be just the ticket. This little tech helpers are both hand and efficient. A lot of advancements have been made since these little robotic maids were first introduced, and now they work way better than the initial models. If you’re looking for a dedicated little cleaning minion to roam the house picking up pet hair, dirt and even larger debris like lost bits of kibble or cat litter then a robotic vaccum for pet hair could be ready to do the job. There’s several great options in this category, and we’ve chosen our top 3! Pet hair is a tall order for most vacuums, and it’s typically the biggest test for cleaning machines. These little cleaning beasties have proved themselves as the best of the best to vanquish pet hair that’s trying to take over your living room. Below we’ll rate and review the best brands to help you get your home back from pet hair tumble weeds!
What do you need to know before purchasing a robot vacuum cleaner? Well, first you’ll need to know what your needs are. Some vacuums do better for hardwood floors and some do better for carpets. This is just as true for robot vacuums as it is for a regular upright model. You’ll need to evaluate your home to determine exactly what you need. If you have both kinds of flooring look for a model with transitioning capabilities. You’ll also need to take the size of your home into account. A robot vacuum operates on a battery. That means it needs to re-charge itself after a certain amount of coverage. Get one with a battery that’s large enough to clean your whole house. Lastly, be aware of features you need. While some models may be cheaper they could be lacking in key features which will affect the usability of your robot vacuum. For example, a budget robot cleaner manufacturer could skimp on sensors or other gadgets that make your vacuum smarter. A higher priced robot vacuum will be able to learn the floor plan of your house, and it will spend less time stuck in corners and more time actually cleaning up. Alright. Now that we know what we’re looking for here’s the best robot vacuums for pet hair.
iRobot Roomba 980 Robot Pet Hair Vacuum
Arguably the most well known robot vac, but is it the best? In this case the Roomba lives up to its own hype. This little power house is like an all terrain cleaning machine running through your house, quietly tidying up for you while you’re at work or busy watching Netflix. This little robot is smart. Really smart. It has a special navigation system, and a camera that help it map out a grid of your home. This machine can continually learn the lay out so it can clean efficiently without ever missing a spot. This model runs continuously for 120 minutes on one charge which is great for big rooms. If that’s still not enough to clean your whole house no worries! This little helper automatically returns to it’s base station. It will charge its battery to full capacity, and then it will pick back up right where it left off and finish the job.
What’s different about this particular Roomba model? It’s 10 times more powerful than the other units. It automatically optimizes the air power so it can pick up more dirt and pet hair. There’s also a nifty smart phone app that let’s you control your Roomba with your phone! This little bit of software will let you easily fine tune how Roomba cleans your house. You can adjust accordingly to choose from between one or two passes for extra dirt capturing power. You can also turn off the carpet boost or other features if you’d like, which could save power, and get more done on one charge. This little carpet cleaning wizard is only 3.6 inches tall, and so it will easily zip under most of your furniture for a quick clean. That means no more moving furnishings or trying to reach underneath with the vacuum attachment to get stray doggy hair tumbleweeds! In addition to doing a great job on rugs and carpets it will work on hard floors too. The tangle-free rollers also work to keep pet hair and debris from jamming it up. If you thought Roomba could only pick up small dirt particles that’s incorrect! These little beauties are good to go on pet hair and larger debris too. Even if your pup spills some kibble on the kitchen floor this little bot will quickly scoop it up to keep your floors spotless. This robot comes with a 1 year limited warranty on the unit, and a 6 month warranty on the battery. This is the premium unit on the list, and it’s the most high powered of our three choices. It also has the longest lasting battery, and a lot of premium features. If you’re looking for the best robot vacuum then this is most likely it. It’s a very powerful machine with a lot of great features and functionality to get the job done. Though I am a little disappointed that they only warranty their batteries for six months. That’s not really an indication of how long they actually last, but it does make me wonder if they’ve had reliability problems in the past when it comes to batteries.
- iAdapt 2.0 Navigation with Visual Localization enables Roomba to navigate and clean an entire level of your home
- Runs for up to 120 minutes, then automatically recharges and resumes cleaning to complete the entire job

bObsweep Robot Pet Hair Vacuum and Mop
The bObsweep is an interesting little multi-purpose unit that can not only vacuum for you, but it also mops! This automatically makes it my favorite on the list, because mopping is my least favorite of all household chores. This robot is specifically made for cleaning up pet messes from picking up pet hair to scrubbing away at dirty paw prints your fur babies leave behind. The motor operates at a whopping 7500 RPM to easily pull dirt, debris and pet hair out of your carpets. There’s an included micro fiber cloth that you can clip on which will turn this robot vacuum into a mop that will clean and polish your floors. That’s not all the tricks this puppy has either! It also includes a 400 NM UV light for germ killing power, and it contains a HEPA filter that will catch dust, pollen, mold, dander and other allergens that might be polluting the air in your home!
To keep the unit on track is contains a surface auto-mater so that it can easily adjust to go over doorways, and up onto rugs. This robot has a high quality lithium battery that allows it to operate for over an hour on one charge before it will need more juice. In addition it features a very large dust bin for convenience so it doesn’t have to be emptied as often as comparable units. While this robot doesn’t have a nifty smart phone app it does come with a little remote control so you can use many of the same functions available to Roomba owners on their app. The tracking system doesn’t seem to be as advanced as Roomba’s, but it does have sensors to help keep it from bumping into walls, and it comes at a much more attractive price point if you’re on a budget. The unit comes with a 1 year warranty on the machine itself, and a 2 year warranty on the battery. There’s also an optional 5 year subsidized repair option if you’d like service and parts beyond the normal warranty that’s offered. The Bobsweep also comes with a lot of extras in the box. You’ll get the remote control, 2 side brushes, extra main brush, 2 additional HEPA filters, the mop attachment and 2 micro-fiber cloths, maintenance tools, cleaning tool, ect. This is my favorite model in the review, and it has some really cool features. I think it’s worth it just for the mopping capabilities, but the HEPA filter is certainly a welcome bonus.
- Specially designed for cleaning up pet hair and paw prints
- Simultaneously sweeps, vacuums, mops, and UV sterilizes all types of floors
- 1-Liter dustbin is the largest in the industry
- HEPA filtration removes harmful allergens from the air
- Personalized cleaning schedule and automatic self-charging
- Multi-use robot vacuum and mop
- UV light for germ killing power
Neato Bot Vacuum For Pets and Allergies
The Neato bot is a lesser known robot vacuum, but it’s packed with great features. It has a laser floor mapping system, and object detection so it can clean faster and more efficiently. The unit comes with two different brushes you can use depending on what you’d prefer. Either a spiral blade brush or a combo brush that’s great for picking up hair, and is quieter than the other brush. Their SpinFlow power clean system picks up anything you can throw at it including dirt, crumbs, pet hair, and those bothersome dust bunnies. This unit also has a very unusual shape. While most of these robot vacuums are round in shape this one more resembles the letter “D”. This is done on purpose as a means for it to get into hard to clean areas like corners for a more thorough cleaning.
Much like the Roomba the Neato uni will move from room to room, and it will automatically return to its base for charging. It’s also smart enough to know where it left off so it can continue its cleaning route when the battery is fully charged again. This unit also features an extra large dirt bin that doesn’t need to be cleaned as often. To use the Neato vacuum you can either push the button on the top of the unit to start or you can schedule your cleaning. This device doesn’t have a remote or smart phone app for scheduling unfortunately. While this unit is still pretty small it’s a little taller than the Roomba which may keep it from getting underneath some of your furniture. It does have a larger brush than round robots though, so it has the benefit of being able to pick up more dirt in every pass. This is a pretty nice unit, and while I do prefer the extra features the Bobsweep has this one is most likely a “smarter” robot for a cheaper price than the Roomba. This one is great if you want a smart robot vacuum, but you don’t need all the fancy bells and whistles that drive up the price of other models. This unit comes with a 1 year warranty if you need parts or service. While service is still offered outside of warranty you will have to pay for any parts or repairs once your year is up.
- LaserSmart mapping and navigation system scans and maps the room, plans, and methodically cleans—instead of bumping around.
- D-Shape design with CornerClever technology gets close to walls and into corners. Maximum hair pickup. Picks up more pet hair than other bots.
- SpinFlow Power Clean combines potent suction and precision brushes to leave floors immaculately clean. Includes both combo brush, spiral blade brush, and side brush.
- Auto-Charge & Resume lets your robot clean room to room; when it needs more power, it automatically returns to charge, then returns to where it left off & finishes the job.
- Large dust bin for convenience and less emptying
